The third edition of Startup OLÉ kicked off today at the Adolfo Suárez Exhibition and Conference Centre, with a final tally of 2,000 attendees and 300 participating companies, cementing its status as one of the leading events for entrepreneurship, innovation and technology in southern Europe. The event is supported by the City Council, the Regional Government of Andalusia and the Málaga Provincial Council, and over the coming days will bring together leading representatives from the national and international business, technology and investment communities.
The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, thanked the organisers for choosing the town to host an event of global significance and particularly welcomed the fact that the city had been selected as one of the permanent venues for this gathering. “We knew there was great interest in Marbella in this sort of initiative, and it was also important for us to see how proposals of this nature generate so much interest in our area,” she said. The mayor highlighted the high calibre of the speakers, participants and companies attending the forum, a factor which, she noted, “makes Startup OLÉ a particularly attractive event of great value to the local economy and business community”.
She also emphasised the city’s current positive economic and employment indicators. “Marbella is achieving record figures for Social Security enrolment, business start-ups and new self-employed workers – figures that reflect the dynamism of our municipality,” she noted. Muñoz also emphasised that hosting events of this kind helps to reinforce the municipality’s image as a leading hub in the technology sector.
For his part, the CEO and founder of Startup OLÉ, Emilio Corchado, emphasised that “the sector’s leading national and international players are gathered here, and we consider ourselves to be the largest event of its kind in southern Europe, whilst also connecting with organisations and bodies on a global scale”. Meanwhile, Javier González, Director-General for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship at the Regional Government of Andalusia, thanked the City Council and the organisers for launching this initiative and highlighted the importance of continuing to strengthen entrepreneurship in Andalusia. “Our region is on the rise; we have very positive indicators and we are growing significantly thanks to the support of the entire entrepreneurial ecosystem,” he said.
