Who is really Martin Demichelis?

I consider myself a modest and persevering person, that despite having been born in a small town in Argentina, Córdoba, I achieved my goal of becoming a Professional Player. All this is due to the education I received from my parents and grandparents, which is essentially based on the sense of sacrifice.

Years later and thanks to my experience living in Germany and working in a team like Bayern, I ended up my training as a player and as a person. In Germany I understood that there is no success without discipline. Discipline, punctuality and organization for me are the basis of everything and I have instilled this in my children.

The tragic death of your parents changed your way of facing life?

Yes, it is a lesson that life gave me. Losing my mother at fourteen and my father in a serious accident, have made me harder, stronger, but at the same time this has made me rethink what are real problems and which ones have no relevance in life. Everything that happened in my life reminds me the relevance of embracing my children and my wife every day.

It is always admirable to see how a football star like you got excited and even cried in the announcement of his withdrawal. Do you consider that, besides being a self-demanding man with yourself, you are a sensitive man?

To retire it was a blow to me. I was always hard on the football ground, with a very high pain threshold, but yes, I am sensitive. I have lived difficult things, that’s why I was filled with emotion, as well as because I stopped doing something that I loved and will go on loving the rest of my life, football. But let’s say yes, I consider myself a sensitive man.
