A BUSINESS WOMAN
After carving out a hugely successful modelling and TV career in London, England, Natalie Richardson and her husband moved to Marbella with their two children, India and Thalia. Paul was in the nightclub industry, with clubs both in Marbella and London. After selling up and having to think about schooling for their girls, they settled on Marbella as a home from home. That was 8 years ago.
Now Natalie is the soul owner of the Bardou Salon situated in the heart of Puerto Banús. A cutting-edge salon designed to the highest of standards, offering the most up-to-date services on the coast.
Natalie opened Bardou after seeing a huge gap in the market for an up-to-date, London-style salon. “I just thought the salons here were so behind. In fact I used to fly back to London every 6/8 weeks to get my colour done.”
After starring in the hit reality TV show “Life on Marbs”, it seemed like the perfect timing to grow a business from the social media platform she had. “I enlisted the help of my friend Adee Phelan, a celebrity stylist who is most famous for the David Beckham mohawk, and together we visualised a layout for the salon. I knew I didn’t want it too girly, and definitely wanted a certain London chicness to the salon, we hand-picked all the items of furnishings from auction houses, including the floor, which is 150 years old, from a Shakespearean playhouse, and the desk, which was the first original desk out of Barclays Bank. The sofa came out of the famous Cafe de Paris nightclub. So every piece has a significant story to tell. I wanted Bardou to be a one-stop shop, so instead of having to travel to different places to get your treatments done, you could come to Bardou and get the full package, hair, nails, extensions, tan, beauty, massage, eyelashes even semipermanent makeup (tattooing).”
Natalie is a fully qualified therapist and was trained by Tracie Giles, so every product is hand tested and approved by her.
Natalie also has a range of Bardou Salon products which include shampoo, conditioners, smoothing and texturising sprays, brushes, rollers, hair spray and the famous Bardou dry shampoo! A must in any Marbella girl’s bag! The products are all keratin-enriched and are vegan-friendly, we use these alongside the big brand names at Bardou, such as Loreal, Wella, Olaplex, Great Lengths, Beautyworks, Shellac, CND, St Tropez, Lycon Wax, and Thalgo
Recently Natalie has teamed up with Lavish Body Clinic, who are now situated in Bardou, offering advanced body treatments such as lipo freezing, Brazilian butt lifts and HIFU. So now you can get bikini-ready as well.
The salon has been successfully running for 3 years now with a huge celebrity following such as Vogue Williams, Megan McKenna, Lauren Pope, a host of reality stars and models, and even Spanish royalty, in fact, you might just find a scene being filmed when you’re in getting something done.
From the success of the flagship store, you will soon be able to find a pop-up Bardou at Nikki Beach Marbella tending to the fabulous party crowds, and Natalie has also branched out further afield and is in the process of opening a Bardou in Dubai.
Natalie is also a keen property developer and has undertaken a complete reconstruction of a villa in Tarifa, turning it into a modern glass property with separate guest apartment and infinity pool, she is also in the process of renovating another villa in Marbella, with the same concept. So her property portfolio is also growing at speed.
Asked if she has any plans of moving any time soon, Natalie says, “Never say never. I do love Marbella and it does hold a special place in my heart, I love the diversity it brings, waking up and doing sunrise yoga on the beach, walking down the promenade, the choice of the amazing vegan and organic restaurants Marbella now offers, lunches in the picturesque old town, and then partying the night away with the rich and famous at Suite nightclub or Olivia Valere, so we can only see what the future brings, right now I’m healthy, happy and positive, I’m a hugely spiritual person so I will let my path take me where I need to go and trust in the faith, right now it’s all a balance of working hard and enjoying quality family time with my family.”
