The Spanish executive, entrepreneur and investor will take part alongside some of the world’s leading figures in longevity at a gathering that brings together leaders from medicine, research and industry

Clínica Neleva, one of Spain’s most innovative and pioneering projects in longevity medicine and a European benchmark in preventive health, strengthens its international standing at one of the sector’s most relevant specialist events

Javier Ramírez, CEO of Clínica Neleva and founder and Managing Director of Longevity Ecosystem, will represent Spain as a speaker at the 4th Roundtable of Longevity Clinics, to be held on 17 and 18 October at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, in Novato, California.

Ramírez will take part in the round table entitled “Navigating Challenges, Embracing Opportunities”, in which the leading players in the clinical application of longevity medicine will discuss the main opportunities and threats that longevity clinics must face in the coming years, including how to develop longevity clinic models capable of combining innovation, medical excellence and business sustainability.

“Longevity is rapidly evolving from a trend into an industry with enormous potential, but its consolidation requires facing major business challenges. The future will not lie solely in adopting new technologies, diagnostics or therapies, but in building solid, sustainable clinic models capable of integrating innovation and scientific evidence with medical excellence, patient experience and economic viability. Only then can we turn advances in longevity into health solutions that have a real and lasting impact on people’s lives,” says Javier Ramírez.

The event is organised by the International Institute of Longevity, with the Buck Institute for Research on Aging as its scientific partner. Founded in 1999, the Buck was the first independent biomedical research institute devoted exclusively to longevity and is today a global benchmark in research on ageing.

The Roundtable brings together longevity clinics, healthcare professionals, companies, investors and diagnostics and technology providers, with the aim of sharing knowledge and best practice, analysing which trends are backed by science and debating what the reference standards should be for longevity-specific diagnostics and interventions.

A gathering of those defining the future of longevity

The Roundtable’s relevance also lies in the calibre of the professionals who form part of its programme. Its participants include some of the most internationally recognised names in research on ageing, longevity medicine and the development of new solutions for healthspan.

Participants include Eric Verdin, CEO of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging; Andrea B. Maier, co-founder of CHI Longevity and of the Healthy Longevity Medicine Society; William Kapp, co-founder and CEO of Fountain Life; Dan Buettner, founder of Blue Zones; Dean Ornish, founder and CEO of Ornish Lifestyle Medicine; Michael Roizen, Chief Wellness Officer Emeritus of Cleveland Clinic; Jamie Justice, Executive Director of XPRIZE Healthspan; Leroy Hood, CEO of Phenome Health; and Nathan Price, Chief Scientific Officer of Thorne, among other leading figures in the sector.

A programme addressing the main challenges of the new longevity

Over two days, the Roundtable will examine longevity from different angles, in a programme that reflects the strong growth and diversification of this industry.

The first major block will be devoted to the longevity clinic ecosystem, with conversations on the current state of the sector, its main challenges and opportunities, and the evolution of clinic models. This is the context for Javier Ramírez’s contribution, as well as debates on new concepts that combine clinics, hospitality and other emerging models.

The second block will focus on longevity diagnostics, with sessions on new trends in diagnostics, biological clocks, epigenetics, biomarkers, biomarker-based supplementation and environmental health, including the impact of microplastics.

Longevity interventions will take centre stage in the third block, with topics as diverse as the applications of space medicine to health and performance, sports medicine, exosomes and peptides, the science behind supplements, happiness as a factor related to healthspan, sleep, and the incorporation of longevity as a corporate benefit.

The programme will also address the impact of new technologies and artificial intelligence on longevity practice, from their applications in clinics and research to AI Agents and the innovations that could transform clinical practice over the next decade.

Finally, the Roundtable will dedicate a specific block to branding in the sector, with debates on how the media currently perceive the longevity industry and on its positioning, branding and public perception looking ahead to 2030.

This thematic breadth reflects the evolution of longevity as both a discipline and an industry: an ecosystem in which scientific research, preventive medicine, diagnostics, technology, business models and new ways of understanding and communicating health converge.

From preventive medicine to healthspan: the Clínica Neleva experience

It is precisely at this intersection of science, medicine and management that Clínica Neleva’s track record lies. It dates back to more than fifteen years of experience by Dr Ángel Durántez in the field of preventive medicine and longevity. Since 2017, under his medical direction, the project has evolved with the aim of moving from medicine focused on treating disease to a model based on anticipating it and optimising health.

In 2025 this evolution gave way to a new chapter under the Clínica Neleva brand, with a preventive and longevity medicine model based on advanced diagnostics, personalised interventions and longitudinal patient follow-up.

Its philosophy is built around the concept of healthspan: it is not only about living more years, but about extending the time lived with health, energy, autonomy and functional capacity. To this end, the centre integrates advanced diagnostic tools and personalised strategies aimed at identifying early the factors that can influence the ageing process and acting on them.

This positioning connects with the evolution the sector is undergoing and with the business perspective that Javier Ramírez will bring to the Roundtable: how to develop longevity clinic models capable of combining medical rigour, innovation and business sustainability.

Javier Ramírez, a business profile linked to health innovation

Javier Ramírez’s participation in the Roundtable is part of a career spanning more than 25 years in strategic management, business development, investment and corporate governance, in sectors such as finance, insurance, real estate, genetics, healthcare and longevity medicine.

In addition to his position as CEO of Clínica Neleva, Ramírez is founder and Managing Director of Longevity Ecosystem, an investment platform specialising in healthcare, HealthTech, life sciences and healthy longevity. Through this platform he holds stakes in international companies linked to advanced diagnostics, personalised nutrition, digital health and longevity services.

His career thus combines more than two decades of experience in business management and strategic leadership with investment activity in healthcare, HealthTech and life sciences, and a growing specialisation in longevity and preventive medicine.

He previously built an extensive executive career at AIG, where he was Country Manager for Spain and Portugal and an independent member of the Board of AIG Latin America Investments, in addition to holding various positions at Banesto and other companies.

A well-established relationship with the Roundtable

Javier Ramírez’s participation in this edition also continues his connection with the Roundtable of Longevity Clinics, following his participation in the 2025 edition.

His return this year marks a further step in Clínica Neleva’s presence within an international ecosystem that is defining what longevity medicine will look like in the decades to come.

His participation in the Roundtable also highlights the growing weight of the business dimension in the development of longevity as a new industry, at a time when the sector is beginning to consider not only which scientific advances can transform health, but also how to turn them into rigorous, scalable and sustainable clinical models.

Its model combines precision diagnostics, personalised medicine and ongoing follow-up to help each patient maximise their healthspan, or healthy life. Through a multidisciplinary team and a comprehensive vision of longevity, Clínica Neleva works so that people not only live more years, but can do so with more energy, autonomy and quality of life. It is also part of the Roundtable of Longevity Clinics promoted by the Buck Institute in California, one of the leading international forums dedicated to the development of longevity medicine.
