The International Contemporary Art Fair closed its doors with 95,000 visitors and an economic impact of €195 million in Madrid.
On 8 March, the 45th edition of ARCOmadrid, organised by IFEMA MADRID, closed its doors with favourable results in terms of both attendance and commercial activity. The fair once again stood out for the exceptional quality of its content, which attracted particularly dynamic national and international collectors during the event.
ARCOmadrid, which once again enjoyed the support of the Royal Household and the presence of the King and Queen of Spain at the opening ceremony on 5 March, attracted a total of 95,000 visitors. It also stood out for the level of professional attendance, mobilising around 40,000 professionals from all over the world.
With the participation of 211 galleries from 30 countries, the International Contemporary Art Fair and the city of Madrid are gaining weight and recognition on the current international art scene, consolidating their position as an essential event for the art market in Spain and a key meeting and exchange point between Europe and Latin America. This edition featured around 1,300 artists, with the presence of women increasing once again to 40%, according to the report prepared by MAV (Women in the Visual Arts).
These results reinforce the excellent participation figures, which have generated an estimated economic impact of €195 million in Madrid, as well as contributing to the maintenance of 1,475 jobs. All of this confirms ARCOmadrid as one of the most important international events of the year in the region and highlights its contribution to boosting the economy.

In this edition, museums, institutions and major collections have reinforced their participation, making significant acquisitions that once again highlight ARCO’s position as a benchmark platform for the art market and an essential meeting point for the sector.
After the first few days dedicated exclusively to collectors and professionals, ARCOmadrid has recorded significant institutional and corporate acquisitions, including those by the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the ARCO Foundation, the Community of Madrid, Madrid City Council, the Regional Government of Andalusia, the Institut Valencià d’Art Modern (IVAM), Es Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani, the María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation, the Sorigué Foundation and the María José Jove Foundation Art Centre, among many others.
In addition, national and international institutions and companies have shared their support and recognition of artistic creation at ARCOmadrid by sponsoring art awards.
The Proyectos Ultravioleta gallery received the Lexus Award for Best Stand and Artistic Content at ARCOmadrid 2026. The 21st NEWARTaward@ARCO, in collaboration with the Arts Connection Foundation, was presented to artist Julia Scher (Esther Schipper) and Jonas Englert (Anita Beckers). The creator Esther Gatón was the winner of the 10th Cervezas Alhambra Emerging Art Award, and June Crespo, from the Ehrhardt Florez gallery, was the winning artist of the first edition of the Catapulta Acquisition Award.

Meanwhile, the first edition of the Engel & Völkers Award. Profiles | Latin American Art went to the Commonwealth and Council and Patron galleries. And the 2nd Young Talent Award at Opening. New galleries, in collaboration with the Banco Sabadell Foundation, recognised artists Julia Padilla (Linse) and Venuca Evanan (Enhorabuena Espacio). In addition, Luis Gordillo (Prats Nogueras Blanchard) was awarded the III ENATE-ARCOmadrid 2026 Award, and Cristina Lucas (Albarrán Bourdais) received the Pilar Forcada ART Situacions Award. The IX Catalina d’Anglade Prize went to Dalila Gonçalves (Mais Silva). The artist Lola Lasurt (Prats Nogueras Blanchard) received the Fundació Vila Casas Acquisition Prize. And Sofía Salazar Rosales (ChertLüdde) was awarded the Emerige-CPGA Prize.
ARCO awarded its 12th Opening Prize. New galleries to Selebe Yoon, with projects by artists Alioune Diouf and Fatim Soumaré. Spiritvessel received a special mention for the quality of Víctor Jaenada’s project. The Elvira González gallery was recognised with the 2nd Juana de Aizpuru Prize.
