A distinguished group of international experts, sommeliers, journalists and champagne enthusiasts took part in the second edition of Éclat de Champagne, an exceptional blind tasting jointly organised by Puente Romano Marbella and Marbella Club. Gosset Celebris 2012 was chosen as the best champagne and will feature on the wine lists of both hotels for the next ten years.

Marbella, December 2025 – In the last week of November, Marbella Club hosted the second edition of Éclat de Champagne, an exclusive blind tasting jointly created by Marbella Club and Puente Romano Marbella. This annual event brings together a select jury made up of international wine competition judges, specialised journalists, Masters of Wine, sommeliers, content creators and champagne-loving guests, consolidating its position as one of the most special wine events of the year on the Costa del Sol.

The tasting, led by Alejandro Marcos, Head of the Wine Programme at Puente Romano Marbella, and Ángel González, Head Sommelier at Marbella Club, brought together more than 40 participants, who blind-tasted a selection of vintage champagnes currently on the market, from 2012 to 2018.

AN EXCEPTIONAL SELECTION OF GREAT VINTAGES

In this edition, attendees tasted some of the world’s most renowned champagnes, all of them of an exceptional level, making the selection process one of the most competitive to date. The champagnes featured were:

Dom Pérignon 2015
Krug Grande Cuvée 173ème Édition – Second Place
La Grande Dame, Veuve Clicquot 2018
La Grande Année, Bollinger 2015

THE WINNING CHAMPAGNE: GOSSET CELEBRIS 2012

After a rigorous sensory analysis and a completely blind evaluation process, Gosset Celebris 2012 was chosen as the best champagne of the edition for its extraordinary elegance, balance and depth. The other two highest-rated champagnes were Krug Grande Cuvée 173ème Édition, which took second place, and Dom Ruinart 2013, in third place.

The winning champagne will be added to, and will remain for the next ten years on, the wine lists of all the restaurants at Marbella Club and Puente Romano Marbella, further reinforcing both hotels’ commitment to oenological excellence and high-end gastronomy.
