The Marbella Business and Professionals Club invites Iván Espinosa De Los Monteros to present his book “España tiene solución” (Spain has a solution) at the iconic Hotel Óbal in Marbella.
In a country where the political class has often been questioned for its lack of preparation or professional experience outside of institutions, Iván Espinosa de los Monteros is a notable exception.
He holds a degree in Economics and Business Studies from ICADE (Pontifical University of Comillas) and subsequently an MBA in Finance from the Kellogg School of Management. His academic and professional career has always been linked to rigour, excellence and a clear international vocation. His remarkable business acumen and talent come as no surprise, as his personality has been influenced by his father, Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros, a prominent figure in the business and diplomatic world. He was undoubtedly his role model in terms of integrity, education and public service. This legacy explains part of Iván’s character: politics as a duty, not as a personal ambition.
Before jumping into the political limelight, Iván Espinosa built a solid career in the business world. This experience as an entrepreneur profoundly shaped his vision of the country: pragmatic, economically liberal, firmly critical of Marxism and state bureaucracy, which, in his opinion, stifles growth and innovation.
His entry into politics was relatively late, but decisive. His oratory, diplomacy, clarity of argument and personal elegance made him a recognised figure even among those who did not share his views.
But beyond his ideology, what has defined Iván Espinosa de los Monteros is an unusual consistency. His vision of Spain as a unitary nation, his defence of private property, constitutional order and a competitive economic model have not changed one iota over the years.
Recently, after leaving the political arena in 2023, he has continued to express his opinions, write and actively participate in public debate, defending the need for a modern, consistent and “unapologetic” right wing. His biography shows us a man who has chosen to remain committed to his ideas, even when this has meant personal or political sacrifices. He is an atypical figure in Spanish politics, where academic solidity, professional experience and ideological consistency do not always go hand in hand.
He has just published his first book, entitled España tiene solución (Spain has a solution), a work that brings together many of his reflections, experiences and, forgive the redundancy, possible solutions to ensure that the future of the next generations — and of Spain — is truly prosperous. In it, he expresses all these ideas with his characteristic conviction and charisma, in a precise and incisive manner, especially in his criticism of Marxism and the polarisation of today’s society.
Throughout the book, he backs up his reflections, conclusions and ideas with historical data and verifiable references, offering the reader the possibility of checking them out for themselves. We will not spoil the work, because it deserves to be read so that everyone can draw their own conclusions.
A man as committed to his ideals and as restless as he is could not resist creating “Atenea”, a think tank or platform designed to project ideas, influence the current political debate and attract talent to the public sphere.
The choice of name is no coincidence: Athena, the Greek goddess, is a symbol of thought, determination and strategy. Born, according to mythology, from the head of her father Zeus, she was not only the goddess of wisdom, but also of just war, art and civilisation. She embodies reason, courage and a sense of justice.
Inspired by this symbol, Atenea has created “Atenea”, a private platform made up of professionals and experts whose aim is to contribute the best ideas and solutions for achieving a competitive Spanish society and a promising future for young people. Atenea addresses issues of crucial importance in depth, such as the economy, justice, education, health and housing, among others.
We will be following its progress very closely.
The Marbella Business and Professionals Club organised the presentation of its book to its members at the iconic Hotel Óbal in Marbella, which was very well received. On this occasion, the Marbella Business and Professionals Club also awarded businessman Pedro Rodríguez a well-deserved medal in recognition of his entire professional career as a developer of the most luxurious residential projects in Marbella and Malaga.
Both Iván Espinosa de los Monteros and all the guests and clients of the Hotel Óbal also enjoyed an exquisite tasting of tapas with the best Mediterranean flavours and the best views of Marbella’s old town from the hotel terrace, accompanied by the colourful and cheerful works of art by a talented 12-year-old boy, Rafa B., Instagram (rafab_artspain).
Without a doubt, his works were a sweet and anecdotal moment that captivated the Spanish businessman and former politician Iván Espinosa de los Monteros himself, as well as the attendees, after the signing of his book.
