DAVID SÁNCHEZ

CEO – Arkitech Systems Group S.L By Rafael Barrio. Director of ELM

Tell us something about yourself.

I was born and raised in Canada, and I recently moved to Spain along with my family to continue and expand our business operations on La Costa del Sol.

When did you decide you wanted to dedicate yourself to the world of architecture?

I have always been involved in and passionate about entrepreneurship since a young age. Architecture and construction are among the most challenging fields in Canada due to inclement weather, and trying to find a perfect balance between comfort, design, eco-friendly and sustainable housing is the force behind my constant research for the perfect architectural design.

Which architect/projects have inspired you throughout your career?

It is very difficult to pick one above all, as I believe every project has its own vision and public. Personally, I admire both the old world and the new one, whether it is the Lotus Temple, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao or the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. But definitely Frank Lloyd Wright and his Fallingwater design has influenced and inspired me for architecture. What is important to decipher is the mind and thoughts behind all those architectural masterpieces.

What importance does technology have in your work?

Timing, period. With all our years of research and dedication, we have achieved a system that allows us to design and build a villa in our facilities within 6 months, a process happening in parallel while waiting for the Municipal licenses to be approved. In most cases, once the license is approved, we already have the villa built and ready to be installed on the plot, reducing the timing of 2 to 3 years in traditional construction to barely 6 months. This is a great system for families or couples unable to wait that long to build a new house, or for investors to get their ROI in a fraction of the time, giving them the opportunity to multiply their investment much more quickly than with the traditional method.
